Frozen Teardrop is a Gundam Wing sequel light novel series that concluded at 13 volumes + an artbook containing an epilogue chapter and full-color versions of all the official illustrations. It is not officially available in English, but a handful of fans have, mostly independently of each other, taken a stab at translating parts of it to English. These are unofficial, amateur translations. Obviously they were all made with love and care, but please take what they say with a grain of salt. No good will come from arguing too hard about anything that's not an official release. In other words, please don't start wank here or because of something you found here.

Please take the chapters/sections I myself have contributed with a full salt shaker. I took scans or photographs of pages of the books, ran them through OCR software to convert the text in the images into copy-pastable text on a webpage, and then ran that text through Google Translate. The weaknesses in this method start at the OCR software. It has a small but not non-existent margin of error when recognizing characters, mostly when used on unclear images. It also doesn't always handle Roman characters in Japanese text, numbers, or punctuation well; oftentimes the website I used flat out refused to read periods. And it tended to spit short sentences or sentence fragments left alone in their own rows out in random places. I fixed all of that to the best of my ability and my patience, but suffice it to say that the raw text was not 100% flawless to start with. And the less said about Google Translate the better. Beyond character names + obvious him/her pronoun mix-ups and canon terminology, I made only very VERY minor 'cosmetic' edits to Google Translate's results. I understand only the barest amount of Japanese and as such, can't usually tell whether I'm making a garbled sentence better or worse. (Also, I'm lazy.)

Let me repeat that before anybody starts complaining about how much my "translations" suck: I KNOW THEY DO. THEY ARE LITERALLY JUST GOOGLE TRANSLATIONS.

Still. Google Translate is better than NOTHING.

List of contributors:

t = tranendal (i.e. me, i.e. Google Translate)
io = inchoate-oeuvre
m = mirei-22/mireisoul
z = zeonic-scanlations
km = kaijyuu-m
k = kokoronomelody
p = psythia

corpus-yaoi used to have a few early chapters up too, but she locked everything down at some point, so they're not listed here.

If you know of or are sitting on any other Frozen Teardrop translations, no matter how fragmentary, your contributions would be most welcome. If you wanna do the OCR and shit with me, even better! Join the comm and post it here if you want. The more the merrier.

In the actual novels, the chapters are not actually numbered. I added "Chapter 0" through "Chapter 36" myself because this was driving me up the wall. It's just for convenience and the good of my blood pressure. Chapter and volume titles are as unofficial as anything else. I cobbled them together from what was listed on wikipedia, and more Google Translate for what wasn't. Please ignore the discrepancies between inchoate-oeuvre's chapter titling and mine. It works out, I promise. (Or at least I couldn't find any way that made MORE sense. These titles are a bleeping nightmare.)

This concludes our PSA. Please do not hesitate to leave a comment if you have any further questions, or for any other reason. :)

EXTRA EPISODE 04 is an Aldnoah.Zero sidestory: a single-installment manga chapter included with one of the Japanese Bluray volumes. An official English translation is available, with the English-language Aldnoah.Zero Complete Season 2 Collectors Edition Blu-ray. However, buying that would set me back roughly €70 (not including shipping) for discs I can't play, of content I already own on plain old DVD. So I found scans of the manga and ran the speach bubbles through OCR + Google Translate instead. I cleaned up Google's stilted, borderline-gibberish results as much as I dared, and what came out is as below.

Let me repeat that before anybody starts complaining about how much my "translations" suck: I KNOW THEY DO. THEY ARE LITERALLY JUST GOOGLE TRANSLATIONS.

Please keep that in mind and take everything here with a generous helping of salt. There IS an official English translation available: use that if you want to be certain of anything in this story.

EXTRA EPISODE 05 is an Aldnoah.Zero sidestory: a short, single-installment prose story included with the eight Japanese Bluray volume. There is no official English version available, and as far as I'm aware, no proper English fan translation either. So I took it upon myself to run the whole thing through Google Translate.

Let me repeat that before anybody starts complaining about how much my "translations" suck: I KNOW THEY DO. THEY ARE LITERALLY JUST GOOGLE TRANSLATIONS.

Still. Google Translate is better than NOTHING.

I addition, this is a Google Translation of this Japanese-to-Korean translation made by a fan. I used that as my source rather than the Japanese raws because the Korean version could be copy-pasted directly from browser and I only have .jpg scans of the Japanese version. Using the Korean translation saved me like five steps of OCR per page to be translated. But yes, it does mean that it's a layer of crappy machine translation layered on top of an unofficial amateur translation. Please keep that in mind when if you read and/or use this for anything.

Maaaaybe one day I'll go back and feed the original Japanese through Google Translate too, but don't stay up for it. I didn't have the patience to fix all the mangled versions of canon terminology and character names that Google Translate spit out, but they should be reasonably easy to suss out in context. (THIS, I might actually go back and fix some time soon though.) The most common victims are Aldnoah activation (mostly rendered here as "maneuver"), Cataphract, Ruelle Envers (Lemrina's mom), Minamo Kaizuka (Inaho's dad), Reyregalia and Gilzeria (the first and second emperors of Vers), Troyard, and Saazbaum. Hope that helps in the meantime. XP

If you have, know of, or are willing to contribute any better English translations of this story, please share!

Frozen Teardrop Volume & Chapter List + 'Translation' Disclaimer

This is a section of Chapter 16 that is, for whatever reason, missing from Deacon/Zeonic's translation of the chapter. I never would have realized it was absent if inchoate-oeuvre hadn't mentioned it existed in her summary of the same chapter, and I've borrowed her translation/phrasing for a couple of sentences. You can tell which ones they are because they're not Google Translate gibberish. :P

I encourage you to read the relevant part of inchoate-oeuvre's summary before this 'translation'. It really does help.
